“Something Amazing Happened Today.” Woman prays with officer who arrested her

For years, Misti found herself caught in the grip of addiction, leading her down a path of poor choices, many of which involved breaking the law. Throughout this tumultuous journey, Misti not only harmed herself but also those closest to her.

However, amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged when a compassionate officer extended kindness and offered words of encouragement. It was this small act of compassion that served as the catalyst for Misti's journey toward recovery.

Since her arrest in 2019, Misti has made remarkable progress, a transformation vividly captured in a touching photo of her and Sgt. Truan praying together. This powerful image serves as a poignant reminder that no matter the trials we face in life, there are always individuals willing to lend a helping hand and guide us back onto the path of redemption.

Now, Misti is sharing her inspiring story on Facebook, serving as a beacon of hope for others who may be struggling with similar challenges. Her courage and resilience serve as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and the unwavering human spirit.

Her Facebook post:

Something amazing happened today. Sgt. Truan ( please forgive me if I spelled your name wrong,) came to College Grove. He called me to the side and asked if he could pray with me.
He was one of the officers that arrested me on September 15th of 2019. It was hot that day and I was sitting in the police car and he pulled me out and asked me if I would rather be in the air conditioning with him. Sgt Traun also was kind enough to allow me to step outside the police car to get some air. He made sure I had plenty of water to drink and spoke to me with respect, kindness, and compassion even though he still had a job to do and I did get arrested that day . At that I remember being very down upon myself for my addiction and for how I screwed my life up. His response to me was people make mistakes, we're only human it's not the mistakes that we make it's what we choose to do after those mistakes that really count.
I'm sharing this today because I think it's important to realize sit although we've been on opposite sides of the law this officer had nothing but the best intentions and wishes for me. Addiction is an ugly thing that not only affects the addict but also the family of the addict, the community, officers and their families, and but most of all it affects all of our children.
Today is an example that you can change your life and that people can change their perspective of you. Our community is full of people that we assume are out to get us but in reality they're not. This is an example of God's grace and how it can change a person's life completely. I have the upmost respect for the sergeant and I will continue too throughout the rest of my life. I will show him or any officer that I come in contact with the upmost respect because they have absolutely no reason be kind to me because I've done nothing in my past but break the law, destroy myself, destroy families, and our community when I was in the my addiction.
God allowed us to see past those barriers and come together as one Christian to another. This right here is what it's about. This is what makes our community special. I just want to say thank you for praying for me and I'm grateful for the impact you had on my life. God's Grace is so powerful. This is a movement to come together with peace and love.
